Obi is used to fasten kimono, and different from a belt of the European clothes, it plays a role of decoration. Just like kimono, there are different types of obi ranging from the casual one to the formal one, and it widely extends from the one of polyester that can be readily used to the artistic one.
It is also popular as a display object.
